Rules
Rushing rules: the 7-yard line
The rusher is the one defender who goes after the quarterback. She must start at least 7 yards from the line of scrimmage.
- NFL FLAG: at most 2 rushers, each with a hand raised before the snap, and they must rush right away.
- NFL FLAG 8U regular season: no rush unless there's a handoff.
- IFAF: up to 2 signalled blitzers get right of way, but any defender more than 7 yards back may rush. Defenders closer than 7 yards stay behind the line until a handoff, fake or pass.
Rushing well
Aim at the throwing shoulder, keep your hands up to bother the pass, and go for the flag, never the body. Mark the 7 yards with cones at practice: see the Rush Lane drill.
