5v5 play · Trips Right
Stick
A 5-yard stick with a flat outside it and a fade clearing out space. Great on short yardage.
Routes
- CDrag
Shallow across the field. Run away from man coverage, sit in a zone hole.
- XFade
Go, but drift toward the sideline so the ball lands where only you can get it.
- YStick
Five yards, then settle inside in the open space. Show your numbers.
- ZFlat
Out to the sideline right away, 1–2 yards past the line. The QB's quick outlet.
- QRead
Read Y → Z → C. Throw as she breaks open.
The QB's read, step by step
- Y on the stick. Look here first, right from the snap.
- Z on the flat. Covered? Move your eyes here next.
- C on the drag. The last look. Get the ball out before the 7 seconds run out.
Coaching points
- Line up in Trips Right: three receivers to one side, which stretches the defense.
- Every route at the same depth on every snap, so the QB can throw on time.
- No picks: receivers cross near each other, never into a defender on purpose.
- Run it to both sides: mirror it and it's two plays.
When to call it
Against man coverage: the routes are built to win one-on-one. Mirror it to attack the other side.
